US-based establishment Goya Foods has opened new sustainable corporate headquarters in New Jersey, as part of a $500m global expansion.
The new center houses 600,000ft2 warehouse for distribution and 42,000ft2 corporate office space.
With this investment, the company has retained over 500 existing local jobs in addition to creating 100 new roles. During the construction phase itself, the center created 150 on-site construction jobs.
The Jersey City facility will be 100% powered by a solar powered energy system using 12,000 panels.
In New Jersey alone, Goya has invested $250m and committed additional resources to its facilities in Jersey City, Secaucus and Pedricktown.
Goya Foods is currently renovating its production facility in Secaucus which will be equipped with solar panels, rail service and advanced technology, including a continuous motion line for Goya's popular rice mixes.
Producing 600 packages per minute, it would be six times faster than the current production capability.
Last year, Goya opened three new facilities in Texas, California and Georgia. The company has 26 facilities throughout the US, Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic and Spain.
