Colborne based food processing facility Ontario Agri-Food Venture Centre has received $225,000 to support the advancement of small batch food products grown in eastern Ontario, Canada.
This funding will enable the firm to accommodate small batch processing, packaging and storage of foods, Northumberland News reported.
It will also support second source revenues from farming operations, initially with a focus on fruits and vegetables, besides serving as an agri-food business accelerator.
This new investment is provided by the Eastern Ontario Community Futures Development Corporations Network, through the Eastern Ontario Development Program (EODP) Collaborative Projects stream.
Northumberland-Quinte West MP Rick Norlock was quoted by Northumberland News as saying: "The EODP program is significantly contributing to job creation in eastern Ontario and this funding will support an important investment in specialized equipment to further enhance the regional impact of the project."
Ontario Agri-Food Venture offers a multitude of services, including food processing facility rental, a food testing laboratory, quick freeze and chill capacity, and refrigeration and freezer cold storage, among others.
