The investment will be used to retool the Ohio plant for the production of the new medium-duty trucks. Ford expects to roll out the trucks for sale in spring 2015.

Currently, the company produces Ford E-Series lineup of vans and other commercial vehicles at this plant.

The company will halt the production of Ford E-Series cargo and passenger vans with at the Cleveland plant later in 2014 and will continue production of E-Series cutaway vans and stripped chassis.

The E-Series vans will be replaced with the production of the all-new 2015 Ford Transit in Spring 2014 in the Kansas city assembly plant in Claycomo, Missouri.

Ford The Americas president Joe Hinrichs said that shifting production of the 2016 Ford F-650 and F-750 medium-duty trucks to Ohio Assembly Plant helps secure a future for the workers at this facility.

"Building these trucks in-house will utilize our expertise from our other tough truck and commercial vehicle lines to give our customers a better product at a competitive price," Hinrichs added.
