US-based company Premier Distribution Center is recalling nearly 50,953 pounds of pork and beef products over misbranding, according to the US Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS).
The recall has been initiated after it was found that some of the inspection labels had been photocopied, and some of the labels had been applied after hours without the presence of a USDA inspector, during a FSIS inspection.
The products associated with the recall include 22,133 pounds of bulk frozen pork ribs belly soft bone-in, frozen pork collars, and frozen pork back ribs in clear shrink wrapped plastic bags bearing a photocopied version of the "I-655 U.S. INSP'D & P'S'D"" and a shipping number #1880 on exterior boxes.
The recall also includes 28,820 pounds of various bulk cuts of frozen beef products, short loins, chuck short ribs, hind shanks, short ribs, banana steaks, brisket trim, butt tenders, flank steaks, flap meat, inside skirt, lifter meat, pulled knuckles, rib eyes, tri-tips, and oxtails; all in clear shrink wrapped plastic bags whose exterior boxes carry a photocopied version of the "I-655 U.S. INSP'D & P'S'D" and a shipping mark number #2014110262.
