Toyota has hired three general contractors to manage construction of its headquarters in North Texas and to expand its operations in Michigan, Georgetown, and Kentucky.
The automaker has chosen Dallas-based contractor named Austin Commercial to build the company's North America headquarters campus in Plano.
For the expansion project of the three sites in Michigan and Georgetown, Kentucky, Toyota selected Walbridge and its joint venture minority-business enterprise (MBE) partner Devon Industrial Group as general contractors.
Toyota initially made the announcement regarding the establishment of the new headquarter in April 2014, when it also highlighted that its three separate North American headquarters responsible for manufacturing, sales and marketing, and corporate operations will be unified into a single campus at Plano, Texas.
Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing North America CEO Osamu "Simon" Nagata said: "We are pleased to be moving ahead quickly with these three projects as we work to bring our major North American business affiliates and leaders together for the first time.
"I am confident that we have selected companies with outstanding track records, a strong focus on safety and real commitment to supplier diversity."
