Martin Chapman
Full line importer AICO has hired Martin Chapman for the newly created post of director of leather development.
Chapman, who spent most of his career at LeatherTrend, will be involved in merchandising the Mia Bella by Michael Amini leather upholstery line that was introduced in January, as well as other aspects of the company's leather business.
"It is clear that having someone with Martin's knowledge of all aspects of the leather business will help facilitate smooth and steady growth in the category," said AICO President Martin Ploy. "Chapman has a very well-rounded background in the furniture business and a keen understanding of merchandising, manufacturing and sourcing in today's global spectrum."
During his tenure at LeatherTrend, Chapman held key positions in operations, systems and logistics.
"Martin was instrumental in the transition of Robinson and Robinson and LeatherTrend at a time when the brand became bigger than the company," said Michael Amini, CEO of AICO. "I am excited to have a member of our team who brings such a broad range of experience, as well as great relationships with key people in the industry."
