Japan-based Dainippon Sumitomo Pharma (DSP) has completed the construction of its new Chemistry Research Building, located at the Osaka Research Center, with a total floor area of 16,322m2.

Started in January 2012, construction cost of the new facility was nearly JPY6.4bn ($64.3m) and is expected to be fully operational in July 2013.

The new facility will combine the work of the Drug Discovery Division, as well as the Process Chemistry Research & Development Laboratories and Analytical Research & Development Laboratories.

Intended to create ideal research environments for drugs, the new centre will enable the drug maker to boost the effectiveness in research and development from drug target discovery to applications for manufacture and marketing approval.

Founded in May 1897, Dainippon Sumitomo Pharma is engaged in manufacturing, sale/purchase, and import/export of pharmaceuticals, food additives, veterinary products, diagnostic agents and research materials.
