Changan - Baosteel Automotive Steel Joint Laboratory was inaugurated and established in Chong Qing on 28th of November. Mr. Xu Lejiang, chairman of Baosteel Group Corporation and Mr. Xu Liuping, general manager of China South Industries Group Corporation awarded for the joint laboratory together. Mr. Wang Jing - deputy general manager of Baosteel Co., Ltd., Mr. Zhang Baolin - general manager of Changan Automobile, Mr. Cui Yunjiang and Liu Bo - deputy general managers of Changan Automobile attended the opening ceremony. Both leaders expressed that Changan Automobile and Baosteel will give full play to the joint laboratory and constantly promote the competitiveness of independent brand of Changan Automobile, so as to open a new chapter of strategic cooperation between Baosteel and Changan Automobile.
Baosteel has a long-term and stable strategic cooperative relationship with Changan Automobile, the two companies conducted close cooperation on early involvement in new car model, research and application of lightweight technology, innovation of supply chain model and building of professional and technical joint team. Baosteel has supplied to Changan Automobile with aoto sheet for more than one million tons.
Leaders of Baosteel and Changan Automobile conducted discussion and communication for two times respectively in June and November of last year, they reached the agreement as follows: On the basis of well cooperation in the past, the two companies will conduct further cooperation in the field of automobile steel and applied technologies, so as to improve product competitiveness of both companies. Automotive sheet production, marketing and research team of Baosteel made a quick response and set up a technical cooperation team for new car model EVI (early involvement) with Research Institute of Changan Automobile, to carry out comprehensive and multi-level communication and cooperation concerning on lightweight of car body, development of new product, application of new technology, promotion of material utilization, technical cost reduction and other respects, and made a preliminary achievement. Based on the close cooperation, the two companies finally decided to establish the automotive steel joint laboratory, to continue to expand the scope and field of EVI cooperation in respect of green manufacturing, safety, environmental protection and cost optimization, etc. so as to push technical improvements and market competitiveness of both companies.
Before the opening ceremony, Mr. Xu Lejiang visited Yubei Plant and Automotive Research Institute of Changan Automobile, and watched the automobile collision test. On the opening ceremony, Mr. Xu Liuping said that automobile is the core industry of China South Industries Group Corporation, Changan Automobile and its joint venture enterprises has got a rapid development and its R&D ability has strengthened constantly, all these achievements also benefited from the support of Baosteel as a supplier who has powerful strength. Currently, Changan Automobile and Baosteel have a good cooperation situation in the technical field, especially when China's independent brand automobile facing the unprecedented pressure to survive, such strong-strong cooperation will be to the benefit of continuous development of China's independent brand automobile. It is hoped that the further cooperation between the two companies in the future will be continued.
On the opening ceremony, Mr. Xu Lejiang pointed out that Baosteel and Changan Automobile have a well strategic cooperation relationship, development of Baosteel can not leave the great support from the excellent automobile manufacturer like Changan Automobile. The auto industry will enter a new period of rapid development in the future, automobile manufacturing will be developed to the direction of lightweight and high strength. Especially in consideration of energy conservation, emission reduction, safety, economy and other comprehensive factors, selection of automobile material will not only cover the steel, application of aluminium alloy material will also be more and more. Baosteel hopes to strengthen cooperation with Changan Automobile to explore the best combination of steel and aluminium for the car body and make common effort to build the most competitive lightweight car body.
