US-based Firestone Walker Brewing company will install two continuous inkjet and laser printing solutions from Domino Printing at its three main production lines that manufacture cans, kegs and bottles for their pale ales and barrel-aged brews.
The company says that the two printers, Dominos' A420i and the D320i have been installed to present the date c ode on the packaging clearly which will help them gain consumer trust and deliver the freshest brew possible.
Firestone Walker packaging manager Will Crosby said, "One of the most critical elements to packaging is the date codes. It's our commitment to show full visibility of when the beer was packaged and ensure that customers are receiving the freshest product on the market.
"We found a laser would be the cleanest, best looking application. We found Domino would be the best quality, best value and right laser for our application."
The A420i printer which will be used on the company's cans uses a new i-Tech (intelligent Technology) which is a service-free ink system that delivers ultra-low makeup usage that helps in reducing costs and operator intervention.
To code bottle labels and cartons, Firestone Walker has installed the D320i Laser which applies codes permanently on different materials ranging from low to high production speeds. It is also capable of producing unlimited lines of text in the orientation, font and size based on the order.
The lasers use Domino's TouchPanel which enables the machine to be handled from any industrial PC as it uses a web-based interface.
Both the products have been equipped to deal with challenging production environments like harsh wash downs required to thoroughly clean brewing equipment.
