US carmaker Ford Motor is planning to halt the production of the Ka model cars due to lack of profit from the vehicle.
Ford of Europe design boss Martin Smith was quoted by Autocar as saying that the car won't pass a US crash test, it was designed too narrowly to suit European tastes and it's only built in one place.
"It'll get a light mid-life refresh but, as things stand, I can't see a life for the car much beyond that," Smith said.
Ford Motor began production of the Ka Tychy, Poland in 2008 in collaboration with Fiat and started its sales in Europe from 2009.
The model comes with two powertrain options including a 1.2L 69PS Duratec petrol engine and a 1.3L 75PS Duratorq TDCi turbo-diesel engine.
