MACOM Technology Solutions Inc of Lowell, MA, USA (which makes semiconductors, components and subassemblies for analog RF, microwave, millimeter-wave and photonic applications) has introduced the MAAL-011129 and MAAL-011130 low-noise amplifiers (LNAs) for multi-market applications such as test & measurement, SatCom, aerospace & defense, and ISM (industrial, scientific & medical).
The MAAL-011129 is a versatile LNA suited to diverse receiver applications such as VSAT, point-to-point and 24GHz ISM. It is fully matched across the band and provides what is claimed to be superior noise figure, small package size, and flexibility in biasing options versus competing LNA alternatives. The MAAL-011129 operates at 18-31.5GHz and has a typical noise figure of 2.5dB and gain of 23dB at 24GHz. The bias current can be set with a simple external resistor so the user can customize the power consumption and linearity performance. The device is housed in a lead-free 2mm x 2mm 8-lead PDFN plastic package, offering simpler and faster automated assembly with minimal usage of real estate.
The MAAL-011130 was designed to provide a fully matched solution covering 2-18GHz with a low noise figure of 1.4dB, high gain of 20dB and flexible biasing options. The device is biased with a single +3.3-5.0V bias and the current can be adjusted with a separate DC bias pin or set with an external resistor. It typically consumes only 30mA and allows full power-down with the Vb pin. Housed in a 2mm x 2mm 8-lead PDFN plastic package, the MAAL-011130 offers a combination of ease-of-use, small package size and biasing flexibility with broadband performance for a breadth of multi-market applications.
