Japanese Nippon Steel & Sumitomo Metal (NSSMC) announced to hike its steel plate export prices to Asia by US$20/ton for April and May. The new prices are at US$670/ton CFR.
Recently, the demands for steel plates from construction and machinery sectors have recovered.
In fact, NSSMC’s export quotes of steel plates for April and May were at US$650/ton CFR. However, the company decided to raise the prices further as most buyers have accepted the quotes of US$650/ton CFR.
Also, the Chinese steelmakers have increased steel plate prices for April.
Affected by these factors, NSSMC decided to increase the prices for steel plates by US$20/ton to US$670/ton CFR.
