Topper Sun Unveiled an in-House-Developed Smart Sun Tracker on May 9,2012

Topper Sun debuts iPV tracker Patty Wang,Taichung;Jackie Chang,DIGITIMES[Thursday 10 May 2012]Topper Sun Energy Technology,a Taiwan-based maker of solar modules/systems and provider of integration services for solar PV installations, unveiled an in-house-developed smart sun tracker on May 9,2012.The firm claimed that the"iPV"tracker can increase solar PV system power-generating efficiency by 30-40%,at 40-50%lower installation costs than Europe-made models of the same kind.

The firm indicated that using iPV in an area with average five hours of sunshine and spreading the cost across 25 years, the price of generating electricity can be lowered to NT$1.7/kWh(US$0.06/kWh),lower than the average price of electricity in Taiwan.

Topper Sun,a subsidiary of Big Sun,explained that Taiwan imports about 97%of energy sources from other countries. This means when the global price of energy sources fluctuates,Taiwan's price of oil and electricity is bound to fluctuate.Using renewable energy sources is the best solution to solve this problem.

The firm further noted that abolishing nuclear power plants is a global trend.Taiwan has three operational nuclear power plants and is building another. If any one of them causes problems,it will affect the entire island. This is a big risk for the country, hence adoption of solar is urgent, the firm said.
