American maker of lithium-ion battery for automotive industry AllCell Technologies has unveiled a new 48 volt micro-hybrid battery.
The new battery will debut at The Battery Show this week in Novi, Michigan.
This new battery is designed to offer a solution for the vexing problem that limits cycle life in micro-hybrid and start-stop batteries.
Other features of the battery include a 15Ah nominal capacity with 16kW maximum discharge power and 19kW maximum charge power.
It uses a proprietary passive cooling material to absorb heat, protecting cells from overheating for hours. It is easy to integrate across a variety of vehicle platforms.
The phase change material (PCM), manufactured using wax and graphite materials, of the battery enables it to operate without power. It also stops the propagation of thermal runaway within the battery.
AllCell Technologies designs and manufactures lithium-ion battery packs for transportation and renewable energy applications.
The company claims that its passive thermal management system keeps the battery temperature below 40°C even in very hot environments.
