New Lightweight Bottle Has Been Developed for Ab Inbev by Ardagh From 185g to 165g

Glass containers manufacturer Ardagh Group has developed a new bottle for AB InBev’s Beck’s and Beck’s Blue. The new ultra-lightweight 275ml bottle was produced by reducing the original from 185g to 165g.

According to Ardagh, the 11% weight reduction on 130 million bottles is expected to save 2,642t of glass, which is equal to the weight of over 200 modern double decker buses.

Beck's Western Europe marketing director Fabienne Rollot said the latest change is one of the ways in which the company is enhancing its environmental performance and making its green bottles even greener.

"Beck's is a pioneering brand at the forefront of independent thinking, always looking for ways to innovate," Rollot said.

The 20g per bottle weight reduction has been achieved without sacrificing the strength of the original container as Ardagh used advanced analytical design tools.

The company's designers also provided additional value through the incorporation of a label panel, while retaining the outline bottle shape and neck profile of the previous design.
