US-based Domega NY International is recalling Green Day Brand Dried Coconut as it contains undeclared sulfites, according to the US Food and Drug Administration.
The product being recalled bears UPC code 6 950296 800744 and carries expiry date of 15 December 2014. This product was sold in the New York Metro area.
The New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets food inspectors found the presence of sulfites in the products during a routine sampling.
No illnesses, however, have been reported due to the consumption of the recalled product. Consumers have been urged to return the product to the place of purchase.
Consumption of 10mg of sulfites per serving may cause severe reactions in some asthmatics. Anaphylactic shock could occur in certain sulfite sensitive individuals upon ingesting 10mg or more of sulfites.
