TomTom has collaborated with LoJack to offer fleet telematics that allow users to operate their vehicle and/or heavy equipment fleet(s) more profitably, while offering enahnced asset protection.
As part of the deal, LoJack will market, install and service TomTom's products and services with its WEBFLEET, SaaS fleet management service.
TomTom managing director Thomas Schmidt said that the strategic alliance enhances the firms' position as providers of automotive technology.
"LoJack's far-reaching market presence will introduce TomTom's fleet management technology to new business markets in North America and enable existing LoJack customers to benefit from a full fleet management solution," Schmidt added.
LoJack president and CEO Randy Ortiz said that LoJack brings its brand strength, global commercial distribution, stolen vehicle recovery system network, automotive aftermarket leadership and unique law enforcement relationships.
"Together, we'll introduce a full suite of products and services for existing and new markets," Ortiz said.
WEBFLEET's GPS/GSM technology will allow dealing with higher fuel costs, improve routing with real-time traffic data, and address unsafe driving.
The deal also involves integration of TomTom's hardware, software, back-end data and SaaS services with LoJack's Stolen Vehicle Recovery Network technology.
