Chrysler Group has renamed itself as FCA US with immediate effect following the renaming of its global parent company, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles.

The new name was officially adopted in October when the company was listed on the New York Stock Exchange.

In 2009, Fiat took over the management control of Chrysler after the company came out of bankruptcy, sponsored by government, Reuters reported.

However, Fiat completed the acquisition of all outstanding Chrysler shares in February 2014 prior to its stock exchange listing.

Chrysler said: "The name change to FCA US LLC does not affect the company's headquarters location in Auburn Hills, Michigan, its holdings, management team, board or brands."

FCA US presently employs 77,000 resources worldwide, out of which 96% are based in North America, and FCA US operates 36 manufacturing facilities in North America and Mexico.

The company has reportedly projected a 60 % increase in sales, and aims to sell seven million vehicles worldwide, and is expected to make net profit of $6.9bn by 2018, reported Reuters.
