Fisker Automotive and Technology Group (FATG), which was purchased by China-based Wanxiang last year following its bankruptcy, will come up with a manufacturing unit in California, US, to revive its Karma hybrid electric car.
The new plant, expected to offer 150 full-time employment opportunities, will be set up at Moreno Valley, California, which is in vicinity of the firm's Costa Mesa headquarters, according to media reports.
However, there has been no confirmation as to when the car production will begin. The model was previously built in 2012 after being launched as concept in 2008.
"FATG believes in the quality, work ethic and competitiveness of manufacturing in the United States... California's natural beauty, trend setting, technology, and environmental focus are perfectly aligned with our Karma relaunch," said FATG chief marketing officer James Taylor said in a statement.
Meanwhile, Delaware Economic Development director Alan Levin told news journal Delawareonline that he was hopeful about automaker building a car in the US.
"It didn't pan out, but it is not over yet... We are going to play this out with Fisker until they tell us there is no longer an interest here," Levin added.
In recent times, the carmaker had communicated to those currently owning Karma for providing them customer support in the form of a list of service centers.
