H.B. Fuller Providing Increased Stacking Strength with Minimum Material Use

H.B. Fuller, a US-based formulator, manufacturer and marketer of adhesives, has unveiled Sesame High Modulus Tape for produce packaging, providing increased stacking strength with minimum material use for increased box life and reuse.

According to the company, the produce trays achieve improved stacking longevity and up to 40% enhanced bulge resistance, with Sesame High Modulus Tape, compared with the same packaging with no reinforcement.

When applied to the bottom of horizontally-corrugated trays, the reinforcement tape technology provides a reduction in the rate of bottom sag in a humid environment and a 45% reduction in sag in cold humid conditions as well as reduces stack failure.

Applied to hand holes of corrugated, the tape provides Euro-style trays with a 15-23% increase in average compression strength over trays without reinforcement and a 4-10% rise in average compression strength in regular slotted cartons (RSC), trays and bins.

H.B. Fuller Adhesive Coated Solutions global business director Peter Lockey said, "Our Sesame High Modulus Tape is the result of decades of developing reinforcement technology for the packaging industry, along with our deep understanding of produce packaging needs and challenges."

"This is a proven fiber technology that will give our corrugated packaging customers confidence that their boxes, trays and bins will hold up better - even in the most challenging environments," Lockey added.
