Mercedes-Benz is planning to introduce four new or redesigned sport utility vehicles in 2015, which according to reports is one of the rapidly growing segments in the vehicle market.
The announcement came during the unveiling event of the brand's GLE Coupe at the 2015 North American International Auto Show.
Two models of the GLE Coupe which the company introduced includes GLE 63 AMG crossover coupe and the GLE 450 AMG sport coupe.
The 'E' in the names symbolizes midsize vehicle of E-Class, reported The Detroit News.
The GLE 63 AMG is equipped with 5.5-liter V8 engine capable of providing 577-horsepower, and the GLE 450 AMG features twin-turbo 3.0-liter V6 engine, capable of producing 362-horsepower and can go from 0-60mph in 4.9 seconds.
According to Mercedes, the new cars have attributes like sportiness, dynamism and agility similar to that of coupes, but it also showcases the self-assured presence and ruggedness of an SUV.
The company also introduced a plug-in hybrid for its C-Class lineup named the C350 which features four-cylinder gasoline engine along with an electric motor which offers a total of 275 horsepower and 443 pound-feet of torque.
The German car maker is also expected to expand the offering of SUVs with all-wheel drive up to 80, reported Reuters.
