Wailua Ale, Kona Brewing Company's Aloha Series beer brewed with passion fruit, has returned to the shelves with a new look and slightly shortened name.
Wailua Ale is available in 36 states where Kona brews are available, including the five latest midwestern markets added earlier this year.
This beer was first brewed in Hawaii as Liliko'i Wheat in 1998 and then transformed to Wailua Wheat in 2007. Now called Wailua Ale, the beer's recipe remains the same with passion fruit and wheat malt as key ingredients. However, its new name focuses on the beer's profile as a refreshing summer ale.
First of Aloha Series beer to be bottled in the new packaging, Wailua Ale comes in new 12oz. bottle, which is embossed with a Hawaiian island chain and 'Liquid Aloha' lettering, and has a slimmer overall shape.
Wailua Ale has an ABV of 5.4%, an IBU of 15, and is brewed with Millenium hops.
Available on draught and in stores now through September 2013, Wailua Ale can be sourced with Kona's online Beer Finder.
