BASF Sales Hit the Record in 2012, up 7% Y-O-Y

German chemical giant BASF Group announced recently, its financial performance in 2012 hit the record, and the sales grew 7% compared to 2011.

In the fourth-quarter, BASF sales reached Euro 19.6b, up 9% year on year; EBIT reached Euro 1.8b, rose 18% compared to 2011.

BASF annual cumulative sales achieved Euro 78.7b in 2012, with a rise of 7% compared to 2011; EBIT reached Euro 9b, up 5% year on year. However, the company’s net profit last year, declined Euro 1.3b compared to 2011, was Euro 4.9b.

BASF predicts that global chemicals production will grow 3.6% in 2013, and the global economy will also increase 2.4% year on year. Therefore, the company predicts that the sales and EBIT will continue growth this year, breaking through the level in 2012.

In 2012, BASF chemical business sales reached Euro 13.8b, up 7% year on year; plastic business sales grew 4% year on year to Euro 11.4b; high performance materials and products sales increased 1% year on year to Euro 15.9b; agriculture products sales rose 12% year on year to Euro 4.7b; petroleum and natural gas business sales were up 39% year on year to Euro 16.7b.
