The system is aimed at measuring out an exact dosage of liquid from a container and targets the pharmaceutical and household products sectors. The Bark Dosing System was also a winner at the 2012 UK Packaging Awards.
Teamplast was up against EasyPack’s PackMate, a compact online paper cushioning system designed as an alternative to bubble wrap. Ceisa Packaging was also in contention with its Full Wrap product, a shrink film that goes around large packs or bottles and an alternative to corrugated trays.
The participants pitched their products in front of an audience and a panel of three judges: AVA Packaging Solutions managing director Alison Vincent; Miguel Garcia, head of category – packaging procurement at Premier Foods; and Packaging News features editor Philip Chadwick.
Jorn Veldhuis, Iindustrial designer at Bark Innovations, said: “I am very happy to win the Lions’ Lair. It is good to finally share this product, which has had a long development process, with the show audience and judges; so glad they liked it. It will make a big difference in dosing liquids - transforming the process.”
Lion’s Lair is inspired by the BBC show Dragons’ Den and ran during last week’s Packaging Innovations show at the NEC, Birmingham.
