Audi has unveiled Q7 SUV which is claimed to be 26% more fuel efficient than its predecessor and is expected to be showcased at the 2015 Detroit Motor Show.
The car will be available in two V6 engine variants across Europe which includes a 3.0 TDI engine capable of producing 272 hp and the 3.0 TFSI engine capable of producing 333 hp, which will also allow the car to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.1 seconds.
Audi is also planning to introduce a second 3.0 TDI engine later for the Asian and US market. 3.0 TDI engine can generate 218 hp while the 2.0 TFSI engine can produce 252 hp
According to Audi, the new Q7 is the lightest in its class, as the company has used lightweight components to build the car. It weighs 325kg lighter than its previous model.
The new Q7 is 1.5 in shorter and 0.6 in narrower than the previous model, but Audi has increased the space between the seats and head room without increasing the height.
Audi has used a protective shield that has been placed from the doors through the instrument panel, and it has used ambient lighting which can be controlled the MMI operating concept, which also allows the driver to control other functions of the car including navigation.
MMI navigation plus in the Q7 connects the car via LTE internet which will allow passengers to connect to WiFi hotspot, online traffic information, Google Earth and Google Street View.
With the Audi smartphone interface drivers will also be able to connect to Apple Car Play and Google Android Auto.
Audi board member for Technical Development Prof. Dr. Ulrich Hackenberg said : "The new Q7 also marks the debut of the second-generation modular longitudinal platform, the Audi technology matrix for models with longitudinally mounted engines."
