Land Rover has confirmed that the compact SUV convertible Range Rover Evoque is expected to go on sale in 2016.
The company has confirmed with a release of film showing SUV convertible being tested on Crossrail tunnels below London
The car will be built alongside five door and coupe Evoque at Land Rover's Halewood plant in the UK.
According to reports, engineers had to solve any issues with body rigidity and handling which occurred due to the loss of the Evoque's roof.
The car got exclusive access to the 26-mile (42km) network of Crossrail tunnels for the development test and Jaguar engineers drove adisguised Evoque Convertible with its roof lowered, and the company made a short film of the convertible being lowered into the tunnel.
Land Rover Programmes director Murray Dietsch said: "The tunnels are still under construction, so we had a unique opportunity to explore the vehicle's all-terrain ability in unchartered territory."
The new facelifted Evoque range is equipped with new LED headlight designs and a four-cylinder diesel engine unit from Jaguar Land Rover's Ingenium range, reported Autocar. The company will reveal further details of the compact SUV later this year.
