Vorkutaugol Has Announced That It Is Considering Developing a New Coal Mine

Russian steelmaker Severstal's mining subsidiary Vorkutaugol has announced that it is considering developing a new coal mine at its Usinsk deposit in Russia's northern Komi region. The new mine is expected to have an annual production capacity of 5 million mt.

Vorkutaugol also stated that it spent over RUB 1.3 billion on the exploration and production license obtained in late 2011.

The mining subsidiary is part of the resources division of Severstal, one of the largest producers of hard coking coal in Russia. Vorkutaugol supplies Severstal Russian Steel with hard coking coal concentrate.
