Japanese automaker Honda Motor is set to stop the production of its hybrid vehicle, Honda Insight, due to declining sales.
Earlier in November 2013, the carmaker announced that it will discontinue the production of Insight in February 2014 and asked its dealers to stop receiving orders.
Being the first hybrid model from Honda, Insight was introduced into US in 1999. From then around 280,629 Insight vehicles were sold globally by the end of 2013, Bloomberg reported.
Earlier in January 2014, Honda Motor also issued a voluntary recall of 7,387 Acura RLX vehicles of certain model year 2014 in the US over loosening of lower control arm bolts.
Honda currently operates 15 manufacturing plants in North America, producing a wide range of Honda and Acura automobiles, automobile engines and transmissions, Honda all-terrain vehicles, and other products.
