Silicon Valley based Peco InspX has unveiled an advanced product inspection line using a combination of x-ray technology and cloud-based computing for quality assurance in the food industry.
Named as ‘SHIELD’, the new food testing system will be officially introduced during next month’s PACK Expo in Chicago.
The new line of product inspection stations is said to club advanced X-Ray technology and cloud-based algorithms to provide enhanced inspection and insight into product quality.
Peco InspX president and COO Rich Cisek said: “In recent years the threat of food contamination has become mainstream, as contaminants, tampering, and disease have headlined media and crippled major companies.”
"To address these concerns and protect the public and food and pharma producers, we are marrying state of the art cloud computing and analytical technology with production line x-ray inspection to identify imperfections early in the processing ensuring the products delivered to our tables and cabinets are free of harmful contaminants."
SHIELD is claimed to identify even micro contaminants of 0.3mm size through its capability of capturing and analyzing each product image.
Besides identifying foreign objects in products, the SHIELD system can also detect proper seal, content levels, and also any defects in packaging.
Claimed to deliver high speed along with highly detailed imaging analysis, the new food testing system from Peco InspX can not only save time but also ensure that the produce and consume are quality assured and safe for consumption.
In May 2015, Peco InspX updated its LabelScan and CapScan vision systems used for quality assurance checks in both the food and the beverage industries.
