Ford has put forth callback of vehicles on two safety compliance fronts in North America even though there is no report of any casualty or mishap.
Based on defects on instrument panel, the recall has been sounded for around 203,500, 2014-2015 Transit Connect and Escape vehicles in North America.
The company said that upon starting some vehicles, it has been noted that instrument cluster, warning chimes, messages and warning lights were rendered non-functional. This has been identified as a compliance issue with FMVSS 101 and other applicable FMVSS requirements.
Though there were no reports of any incidents, the company said such malfunctioning might render the vehicle liable for a crash.
Some of the vehicles hit by the snag are 2014-2015 Transit Connect vehicles made at Valencia Assembly Plant in Spain, May 13, 2014 to December 10, 2014 and certain 2014-2015 Escape vehicles produced Louisville Assembly Plant, May 19, 2014 to February 6, 2015.
In all, 203,445 vehicles are there in North America, which include 182,520 in the US, 18,226 in Canada and 2,699 in Mexico.
Besides, seat belt labeling has been dubbed an issue for one fleet customer's 49 2015-model Transit vehicles in the US.
Some front passenger seat belts were mislabeled by the supplier and were found wanting in information as mandated by FMVSS 209 regarding seat belts. Such vehicles are some of the 2015 Transit vehicles built for one fleet customer at Kansas City Assembly Plant from March 1 to April 10, 2015.
