Infinera showcases DTN-X platform with 500Gb/s super-channels at CableLabs Summer Conference

Infinera Corp of Sunnyvale,CA,USA,a vertically integrated manufacturer of digital optical network systems incorporating its own indium phosphide-based photonic integrated circuits(PICs),is showcasing its DTN-X platform(claimed to be the first commercially available multi-terabit packet-optical transport solution)at the CableLabs Summer Conference at the Keystone Conference Center in Keystone,CO(5-7 August),which is open to CableLabs member companies and approved vendors.

In CableLabs'demonstration area,Infinera product and technology experts will demonstrate how photonic integration efficiently delivers high-capacity coherent optical modulation and lowers total cost of ownership by reducing space and power, while increasing reliability.Infinera says that it will show how platforms powered by PICs can provide cable operators with a simple, scalable and efficient solution to optical networking challenges.

The DTN-X platform has begun shipping to customers for deployment, including major cable operators. It is claimed to be the only optical network solution built using 500Gb/s PICs,integrating more than 600 optical functions onto a pair of chips and delivering the first 500Gb/s FlexCoherent long-haul super-channels that can reach up to 3000km.The solution integrates 5Tb/s of optical transport network(OTN)switching and a GMPLS control plane enabling any service to be switched to any optical wavelength, providing cable operators with a network solution that scales for the future,is simple to operate, and is quick to deploy new services,it is claimed.
