Inspiration for The Arcade Cabinet's Design From a Slew of DIY Forum Chatters

Many adults can recollect the days when video games were the highlights of their day. Back before video games were available in the home, there were arcades. After scrounging up enough quarters kids would flock to the arcade to blow their wad on hours of simplistic sometimes with only one color (green) video games. Six o Eight Design’s head designer .Evan found inspiration for the 'Arcade Cabinet’s' design from a slew of DIY forum chatters making their own cabinets.

Following this fun concept, Evan gave it a shot. The result? “A plywood cabinet to house an old computer, CRT monitor, spare arcade parts, PC speakers and connected them all with a plug and play USB circuit board to read retro arcade game files. The result was too much fun that consumed too many evenings, so I sold it  |..but there are plans for a new LCD version.” – Six o Eight Design -

“For me, the joy of design is balancing mechanical with natural, pitting simplicity against complexity and the challenge of working to reveal “luxury” within the confines of utility.” – Evan from Six o Eight Design - The Discarded Arcade Video Game Reemerges_2
