ConAgra Foods Lamb Weston's four plants have gained the Energy Star certification from the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
The plants that have received the certification are located in Oregon, Minnesota, Richland and Quincy.
The Energy Star is awarded to those plants that achieve best-in-class performance, based on the EPA's Energy Performance Indicator (EPI).
In 2008, ConAgra Foods and other food companies have worked in cooperation with the EPA to develop the EPI tool that is now used determine Energy Star certification in the food industry.
ConAgra Foods Lamb Weston Global Operations vice president Rick Martin said that Lamb Weston employees seek to operate sustainably and lessen the impact on the environment.
"We look for every opportunity to preserve and protect our natural resources by managing energy and water usage while following rigorous food quality and safety practices," Martin added.
ConAgra Foods Lamb Weston supplies frozen potatoes, snacks appetisers, and vegetable products to the foodservice and retail industries.
