Bridgestone Americas, a part of Bridgestone broke ground for its new headquarters in SoBro area at downtown Nashville, US.
The present headquarters is located in Marriott Drive, Nashville and according to Bridgestone it has outgrown its current leased headquarters facility.
The tire maker will invest $200m for the 30-storey; 514,000-square-foot headquarters, and expects the construction to be completed by the end of 2017.
About 600 new jobs from three out-of-state business units will be relocated to Nashville and the headquarters will be home to more than 1,700 employees.
Highwoods Properties has been given the responsibility for the development of the company's new headquarters, and the building will be designed by Global architecture firm Perkins + Will.
The design elements used are expected to be LEED-certified and will reflect best practices in workplace space design.
Building contractor Brasfield & Gorrie has already commenced site preparations for the headquarters which will be one of the largest and tallest corporate headquarters buildings in Nashville.
Bridgestone Americas CEO Gary Garfield said: "Today is an historic day for our company, for Nashville and for Tennessee.
