US-based yogurt maker Chobani will expand its manufacturing facility in Twin Falls, Idaho, to meet the demand for new as well as existing products in the region.
The company is self-funding the expansion which includes initiatives such as purchase and conversion of three production lines for Chobani Flip products, purchase of a new production line and a new bulk production line for foodservice opportunities for growth in restaurants, schools, hotels and airlines.
Chobani's expansion plan also includes purchase of new equipment to produce new products such as Chobani Meze Dips and yogurt drinks.
The yogurt company is also planning to launch its products in new international markets such as Mexico and Puerto Rico in the second quarter of 2016.
Chobani chairman and CEO Hamdi Ulukaya said: "Building the largest yogurt manufacturing plant in the world and expanding it three years later is a really proud moment for us and an example of how right it was to pick Idaho as our second home.
"Our success in Idaho and New York is an example of the power and strength of US manufacturing. To food companies like ours, it's a signal of the momentum of the food movement that we started: better food for more people."
The Greek yogurt maker commissioned its second manufacturing facility in Twin falls in Idaho in 2013, claiming it to be the largest yogurt production facility in the world.
Earlier, the company had invested more than $450m for the construction of one million sft operation. The initial phase of construction was completed in 326 days.
Chobani is also looking to expand its original plant in Central New York. The company is collaborating with communities in Twin Falls and Central New York to support local initiatives.
The company recently launched new diversified products with Chobani Meze Dips and delicious, portable protein with Drink Chobani beverage.
Chobani MezeDips includes real veggies, herbs and spices blended with creamy Greek Yogurt. Drink Chobani yogurt beverage is claimed to be made with only natural ingredients including real fruit and probiotics, and positioned as an easy-to-drink for on-the-go consumers.
