MMFX introduced its MMFX2 reinforcing steel in Chile at CORROMIN a conference of industry leaders focused on solutions to address steel corrosion. Corrosion is a significant problem in Chile, given the country's expansive coastal marine environment. Additionally, the Chilean mining industry, which is the second-largest industry in Chile, is actively searching for technologies like MMFX2 reinforcing steel to help resolve the industry's unique corrosion challenges.
Mr Michael Pompay president of MMFX said that "Chile's corrosion issues make it a prime market for MMFX's uncoated corrosion-resistant reinforcing steel and an excellent first step for expansion of our product sales in South America. The Broom Group leverages its long-standing and extensive network to introduce new lines of business within the countries in which it operates. The Broom Group is an excellent partner for the expansion of MMFX2 reinforcing steel into South America."
Geographical regions and applications with corrosive environments are key markets for MMFX2 reinforcing steel, because MMFX2 provides five times more corrosion-resistance than conventional reinforcing steel. Due to its superior resistance to corrosion, MMFX2 has been independently proven to provide more than 100 years of service life for reinforced concrete structures.
MMFX2 also offers high strength with ductility. At twice the strength of conventional reinforcing steel, structures can be engineered more efficiently to use less steel and less labor, and to resolve constructability issues. These product advantages result in the lowest life cycle cost for the project owner and the possibility for efficient construction with lower up-front costs.
MMFX2 reinforcing steel is sold throughout North America and the Middle East. The Broom Group will represent MMFX in Chile, supporting the expansion of the product into South America. Established in 1920, Broom Group is a shipping and logistics company based in Chile with significant operations throughout South America.
