Renault Promises to Keep Automobile Business in Iran

Gilles Normand, Renault’s senior vice president in the Asian-Pacific region, said that Renault will keep the automobile business in Iran recently.

Although the Western countries imposed economic sanction against Iran at present and Iranian economic condition was instable, Iran was a main market of Renault. Therefore, Renault promised to produce vehicles and car parts for Iranian customers.

Renault said that they will build a regional service agency in the Middle East, and Iran is one of the important markets. From March 20 to December 20 last year, Iran totally exported 44,682 cars and its revenue was 257 million dollars, up 330% compared to the same period of 2011.

It is said that most parts of Iranian cars exported to Iraq, which occupied 98% of Iranian total export quantity. Another 2% exported to Ukraine and Azerbaijan.

From November 21 to December 21 in 2012, Iranian car sales were 72,845, with a rise of 1.5% compared to the same period of 2011.
