Indian automobile manufacturer Maruti Suzuki has expanded its vehicle portfolio with introduction of new limited edition Celerio Green, which is powered by compressed natural gas (CNG).
Equipped with the 1L K series petrol engine with intelligent Gas Port Injection (iGPI) technology the new vehicle delivers an 68ps of power at 6000rpm and 90Nm of torque at 3500rpm in petrol mode, while offering 59ps power and 78Nm torque in CNG mode.
Celerio Green's engine is paired with a five-speed manual transmission to offer fuel consumption of 31.79km/kg, while the vehicle is also available with the Vxi trim manual transmission option.
Maruti Suzuki Marketing vice president Manohar Bhat said the idea of introducing a bi-fuel CNG variant was to strengthen the brand and offer more fuel choices to the customer.
"We are confident that factory fitted iGPI technology on the Celerio Green will bring all the benefits to customers such as smooth drive and hassle-free maintenance and help us in expanding the Celerio brand," Bhat added.
Maruti Suzuki has created extra space in the boot to keep the spare wheel along with the CNG tank.
Celerio Green is expected to strengthen Maruti Suzuki's CNG portfolio, while the manufacturer offers iGPI technology on six models such as Alto 800, Wagon R, Ertiga, SX4 and Eeco.
