Isabella Foods Is Recalling Over Misbranding Products in US

Isabella Foods, an establishment based in Texas, is recalling approximately 685 pounds of tamale products as they contain wheat or soy that is not mentioned on the product labeling, according to the US Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS).

The products being recalled are 36oz packs containing 12 'Isabella Foods of El Paso Green Chicken Tamales' and 36oz. packs containing 12 'Isabella Foods of El Paso Red Pork Tamales, bearing the establishment number 'P-13389' and 'EST. 1960' respectively inside the USDA mark of inspection.

These recalled products were produced through 18 January 2013 and sold to institutions and retail stores in the El Paso, Texas.

The problem was found by FSIS in-plant personnel during a routine label review. FSIS and the company have received no reports of adverse reactions due to consumption of these products.

Customers concerned about a reaction are advised to contact a healthcare provider.

This recall has been classified as Class II, which indicates a health hazard situation where there is a remote probability of adverse health consequences from the consumption of the product.
