Infiniti Motor, the luxury vehicle division of Japanese automaker Nissan Motor, is planning to produce its new Q50 sports sedan and QX50 crossover at the Xiangyang plant in Hubei Province, China.
The plant, which is operated by Infiniti's Chinese partner Dongfeng Motor, is scheduled to commence production of the two models in 2014.
Infiniti Motor president Johan de Nysschen said in 2012, the company has established its global company headquarters in Hong Kong in order to be even better positioned to serve China.
"We are expanding our product portfolio with two new models especially for the Chinese market in 2014 and plans are underway to significantly increase the dealer network from currently 60 to 80 dealers in 2014," Nysschen said.
Infiniti introduced the Q50's hybrid variant at the ongoing Shanghai Auto Show in China, which is powered by a V6 3.5L petrol-electric hybrid and sprints from 0-100km/h in five seconds.
The petrol variant of Q50 is powered by a 3.7L engine and it is scheduled to go on sale in China in spring of 2014.
