EL Salvador's Central Bank's Imports of HRC in 2012 Falls by 15% From a Year Ago

According to statistics released by El Salvador’s Central Bank, the country’s imports of hot rolled coils (HRC) totaled 108,552 tons in 2012, falling by 15% from a year ago.

In 2012, the country’s imports of wire rods rose by 13.5% while those of rebar increased by 2.4%, both compared to the figures in a year ago.

In December alone, El Salvador imported 10,068 tons of HRC, doubling from 5,418 tons in a month ago. Japan was the largest HRC exporter to the country with 6,133 tons.
