Sanza,60,is the owner of Glass Doctor,1701 Quincy Ave.in Naperville, and whether your problem is a broken windshield or a cracked shower door or mirror, the Glass Doctor offers the fix you'll need.Born in Virginia and a graduate of the University of Virginia with a bachelor's degree in engineering,Sanza said he tried going in a different direction after finishing a stint with the U.S.Army.
"I actually earned an associate's degree in oceanography before I went into engineering,"Sanza said."I guess it was the romantic side of me.I was certified in scuba diving and love the water, but I realized it wasn't something I could make a living at,so I transferred a lot of my credits and got an engineering degree as I was always good in science and math and technology."
Sanza moved to Naperville in 1993 where he worked several years with companies involved in the production of everything from microwave circuit boards to a position with Motorola that involved international sales and cellphone parts.A reorganization of the company led to compressing his department and putting too much work on the shoulders of far fewer people,so Sanza elected to move on in search of something he could manage more himself.
He found Glass Doctor,a 50-year-old franchise with 200 locations in the U.S.and Canada.
"When I decided to leave and go out on my own,I found about Glass Doctors, who also work with veterans and give them some discounts on the franchise fees,"Sanza said."I felt that Naperville was the perfect place for a Glass Doctor as there aren't any others in the area, and living here gave me a chance to network with people I knew."
