US-based Campbell Soup has acquired baked snacks producer Kelsen Group from Maj Invest, a Danish private equity firm, and several other investors.
Kelsen, based in Narre Snede, Denmark, is a producer of baked snacks that are sold in 85 countries worldwide. The company's brands include Kjeldsens and Royal Dansk. Kelsen has distribution networks in markets in Asia, South America, the Middle East and Africa as well as the US.
Campbell stated that it will operate Kelsen as a standalone business, reporting to Campbell International president Luca Mignini. Senior members of Kelsen's management team, including CEO Brian Ronsholdt will continue to lead the business.
Mignini said: "We are excited to bring Kelsen's talented team and distinctive brands to Campbell. The acquisition of Kelsen, with its strong brand awareness in China and Hong Kong, is an ideal complement to Campbell's global baked snack businesses and a platform for additional growth for Campbell in key emerging markets."
In June Campbell agreed to acquire agreed to acquire baked snacks producer Kelsen Group from Maj Invest for an undisclosed amount.
Established in 1869, Campbell Soup is a manufacturer and marketer of foods and simple meals, including soup and sauces, baked snacks and healthy beverages.
