Wacker Has Developed a Vinyl Acetate-Ethylene Copolymers (VAE)-Based Dispersion

Wacker in Germany has developed a vinyl acetate-ethylene copolymers (VAE)-based dispersion suited for bonding various surfaces in the paper and packaging industry, specifically. The new VINNAPAS EP 8010 with good heat resistance, permanently bonds paper and cardboard surfaces such as coated or painted paper, and polymeric film.

According to the company, the dispersion is manufactured without the use of alkylphenol ethoxylates (APEO), and its VAE basis makes supplementary plasticizers unnecessary making it ideal for formulating adhesives applications in which difficult-to-bond substrates have to be permanently joined.

VINNAPAS EP 8010 dispersion facilitates cleaning of the application equipment, re-emulsifies fast and lends itself well to machine application.

The product also has environmental and user-friendly properties, besides its adhesive properties and enables the formulation of adhesives without plasticizing additives thereby keeping the migration potential in the adhesive low.

The new dispersion belongs to the VINNAPAS Plus class for especially demanding product solutions and suits well for formulating adhesives used in paper and packaging applications such as food-packaging bags and up-market folding boxes for exclusive consumer goods.
