Saif Al Kahili Group to Set up a Caustic Soda Production Plant

Abu Dhabi, UAE-based Saif Al Kahili Group, has signed an agreement with Khalifa Industrial Zone Abu Dhabi (KIZAD) for setting up a caustic soda production plant.

As per the deal, the total land reserved for the project is 102,401 sq m, which would be divided for plants, a warehouse, offices, utility storage and expansions for future projects.

When operational, the plant, to be set up under Emirates Chemical Factory, would be the first in the UAE to produce caustic soda and other chlorine derivatives.

The caustic soda production plant would expand Saif Al Khaili’s production portfolio and considerably contribute in diversifying Abu Dhabi’s economy, in accordance with the emirate’s Economic Vision 2030, reports Khaleej Times.

At the agreement signing ceremony, Khaled Salmeen, chief executive officer of KIZAD, said that caustic soda is currently 100 percent imported, and new plant being set by the Emirates Chemical Factory will contribute significantly to the local market.

Louai Kasem, vice president of Saif Al Khaili Group, said the group chose KIZAD for their production facility as it offers an excellent logistics infrastructure, coupled with highly competitive operating costs. The proximity to Khalifa Port will also be of great benefit, allowing access to new markets outside the UAE, he added.
