Skoda Auto Has Reported a 6.8% Increase in Global Sales to 939,200 Units in 2012

Skoda Auto has reported a 6.8% increase in global sales to 939,200 units in 2012 compared to the 879,200 units sold in 2011.

In December 2012, the company delivered about 66,200 vehicles an increase of 6.1% against the same month of the previous year that added to the year-on-year sales.

Skoda CEO Winfried Vahland said: "Skoda has again gained market share in many markets thanks to attractive new models, extending the successful course of its growth strategy."

In Western Europe, the company registered decrease in sales to 358,400 units in 2012 from the sales of 361,800 units in 2011, while the market share increased by 2.8%.

The Eastern Europe sales of 2012 were up 26.4% with 137,100 vehicles sold compared to 108,400 units sold in the previous year.

The brand registered a 0.7% growth in Central Europe with sale of 124,000 vehicles, in China sales were up 7.1% to 235,700 units, and a rise of 14.2% with 34,300 units sold by 2012 in India.

The markets including Israel, turkey, Algeria, Australia, Iraq, Taiwan and Kazakhstan also added to the year-over-year sales of the company.
