UK-based Bowness Bay Brewing has expanded its offerings with the launch new Braille Ale for blind and visually impaired drinkers.

Being the first wheat beer of the company, Braille Ale is produced as the Festival Beer for the 20th Westmorland Beer & Cider Festival in Camra to be held on 9 October 2013.

Bowness Bay Brewing brewer and co-owner Richard Husbands was quoted by harpers.co.uk as saying that a cloudy looking wheat beer Braille Ale has been brewed with an emphasis on taste and smell.

"We've used Tettnanger and Saaz hops, with bitter orange peel from Curaao, and fresh ginger and crushed coriander seeds," Husbands added.

"This is all about flavours and aromas, and the end product is a very interesting ale."

Bowness Bay Brewing co-owner Ronnie Mullin told Harpers that it was intended as a limited edition but is proving so popular we are considering making it a regular.

"Eighty gallons were brewed as a test, but the beer turned out so well that it became the main brew," Mullin added.
