The Gaza Ministry of Agriculture Is Set to Impose a Ban on Fruit Imports From Israel

The Gaza Ministry of Agriculture is set to impose a ban on fruit imports from Israel, in a move to pressure Israel to allow vegetable exports from Gaza.

Earlier this week, Israel stopped the vegetable produce from Gaza entering the West Bank at the Kerem Shalom crossing.

As reported by Palestinian Ma'an News Agency, Israel prevented around 12 trucks of Gaza produce from leaving the Kerem Shalom crossing en route to Jordan.

According to the ministry, the ban is expected to lead to a slump in vegetable prices in Gaza.

In early November, Israel allowed the export of agricultural products from Gaza to the West Bank for the first time since 2007.

The Al Bawaba reported that Gaza exported fruits, vegetables, flowers, fish, and products to the West Bank until Israel imposed siege on Gaza.

Israel had agreed to ease the siege on Gaza, under a ceasefire agreement. However, it did not take any action so far.
