nSpired Natural Foods has voluntarily recalled few peanut butter and almond butter products after routine FDA testing for potential Salmonella contamination.
The company, which is a subsidiary of the Hain Celestial Group, noted that there have been reports of four illnesses that may be related to the nut butter products.
Some production lots of peanut butter and almond butter are sold under Arrowhead Mills and MaraNatha brands.
Also being recalled were some lots of private label almond butter from Trader Joe's, Whole Foods, Safeway and Kroger. A total of 43 production lots have been affected.
The products were sold in Canada, the Dominican Republic, Hong Kong, UAE and the US. These were also available for purchase on the internet.
The recall is being made with the knowledge of the FDA.
Typical symptoms of salmonella infection are nausea, vomiting, diarrhea and abdominal pain.
