Dairy company A2 Milk is planning to list on the Australian Securities Exchange (ASX) amid rise in profits across the country.

The company, which has been listed in New Zealand since 2004, had witnessed revenue growth of 31% over the previous year. Total revenue for the alternative milk company was $111.3m over the year to 30 June, up 17% from the previous year.

A2 Milk managing director Geoffrey Babidge said the float on the ASX is expected to happen as early as next year as the company steams ahead with its international expansion, which will include processing milk in the US in the next 12 months.

"Clearly as this business continues to grow strongly there continues to be interest in the potential dual listing.

"It is an agenda item that the board is more seriously contemplating because of the interest by consumers, the interest by institutions and the importance of the business base that is the market at this point in time," said Babidge.

It is planning to expand in the US, the UK and Asia market, with the US launch expected to happen next year. The company sees a big revenue opportunity in the US over next three years, where it plans to invest $20m.

A2 Milk accounts for about 9% of Australia's fresh milk market by value.
